Be Your Own Cheerleader!

10 ways to show yourself self-love!

Sometimes, we can be our own worst critics. We spend ages agonising over how we look, how we dress or what we say. It’s time to bin the negative noise and build up your self-esteem, body image and confidence!

  1. Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall…

Who is the fairest one of all? YOU are! Every time you look at yourself in the mirror, repeat a positive mantra in your head (or out loud if you want) to remind yourself of just how fabulous you truly are. We like this one:

  1. Reward Yourself!

Even the smallest successes deserve a pat on the back! Rewarding yourself with little treats strengthens your motivation and boosts your feelings of self-worth.

  1. Celebrate Your Uniqueness

Focus on your strengths and the individual things that make you you! Write down three positive things about the parts of your body or personality that trouble you the most to turn your worried thoughts into WOW thoughts.

  1. Be Kind

We all try to be as kind as we can be to the people around us but do we apply the same care and consideration to ourselves? Usually not. Learn to talk and think about yourself as positively as you would to a friend.

  1. Let It Go

Are you prone to fretting over something silly you said three weeks ago? Leave it in the past where it belongs. It happened, you can’t change that, and now it’s gone. Jot down the things that keep you up at night, tear it into tiny pieces and imagine it blowing away in the wind.

  1. Zero Negativity Zone

Take a look around your bedroom – is there anything in there that gives you ‘the fear’ or brings back sad or bad memories? Get rid of it. Pop it in the bin or store it elsewhere in the house. You don’t need negative vibes in your life.

  1. Happiness Journal

Start a happiness journal of your own. You can fill it with scribbles, notes, thoughts, doodles or family photos – it’s up to you! There’s only one rule: only happy things are allowed to go inside your journal. You can flick through it when you’re feeling down and add new happy thoughts to it when the mood strikes.

  1. Accept Compliments

If someone says something nice to you, don’t deflect. It can feel a little embarrassing to accept a compliment, but you’ll get better at it with practice. Smile and say, “Thank you!”. That’s all there is to it!

  1. Me Time

Take regular time out of your busy week to spend quality time with the best person you know – yourself. Make time to do something you really enjoy or find relaxing.

  1. I Am Awesome

Be positive about yourself when you’re talking to others. Try not to be too self-deprecating and avoid playing down your achievements. You are amazing and everyone should know it!

How to Be Your Own Cheerleader

Working out how to be your own cheerleader isn’t always super easy but it is a really positive thing to do and to help those around you do too. Be your own cheerleader today and see if it boosts your self-image and confidence!
