Five Fast Ways To Boost Your Mood!

Give yourself a much-needed pick up with these five feel-good tips!

We all feel down from time-to-time. Whether it’s a bad case of the Monday blues or one of those days when nothing seems to go right, it can be difficult to simply put on a happy face and get on with things, especially if you’re suffering from anxiety or depression. Try out these mood-booster tips to release those feel-good endorphins to help you on your way to a happier day…

Let Loose & Feel The Music!

Throw on your favourite tunes and let yourself go! Dance, sing, throw in some air guitar or even mime into a hairbrush if that’s your thing… just let your body move and enjoy the beat. Not one for the dancefloor? Pop on your headphones, lay back, and let yourself get lost in the music.

Seek Out Laughter

They say that a smile can be contagious and the same could be said of laughter. Get in touch with that friend who always makes you laugh or have a look through some of your favourite funny memes for a quick pick-me-up. You could also try popping on a sitcom, comedy or stand-up comedian to cheer you up and distract you from your stresses for a short while.

Treat Yourself

Indulge in an hour of complete me-time. Set up a space in your bedroom and make it as comfy and relaxing as you possibly can. Lay out some scatter cushions, a cosy blanket, a few battery-powered candles and then dim the lights. You can play your favourite music in the background and enjoy a pamper session. You’ll definitely want to have your favourite tasty snacks to hand, too!

Try out a face mask or spend some time painting your nails while watching a show or film that makes you feel good or re-reading a book you’ve read before. Reading really helps to relax the mind and revisiting an old familiar favourite is oddly comforting.

Act Of Kindness

Do something nice for someone else. It doesn’t have to be a big thing – just doing the dishes for Mum or making a playlist for a special someone can make someone else’s day that much brighter. And the bonus? You’ll feel better for it! There’s no greater feeling in the world than putting a smile on someone’s face.

Talk It Out

Grab a mate for a chat or seek out a family member. Whatever’s on your mind, get it out. It doesn’t have to be one particular thing, just blurt out your feelings and emotions, even if they don’t make sense. It really can feel like an instant weight off your shoulders.

You could also try writing. Let your words and emotions tumble onto the page or doodle your thoughts and feelings. Don’t worry about making it neat or having everything make sense, this isn’t school – this is for you and you only. It’s your space to write down your innermost feelings in a way that makes sense to you.

Give these quick-fix, mood-changers a try today and see if you can turn a gloomy moment into a ray of sunshine!
