Five fun ways to be your best self and totally BOSS this month!
Sun’s out, restrictions are lifting, and summer is just around the corner… YAY! There’s lots to be positive about this month but if you’re finding it hard to shift those blues, give these feel-good activities a try to boost your mood this May!
MINI MAKEOVER
Flip the switch on your look or try out a new hairstyle this month! It can be fun to experiment with fashion, trying out different styles and finding a new vibe. Check out TikTok or YouTube for some style inspo if you’re stuck for ideas. You could rock a new hair colour (remember to ask for permission first!), ask the barber for a different cut from your norm, customise an old pair of jeans or try your hand at being a MUA and create a bold makeup look. Changing your style and having fun with fashion can be a great way to boost your body confidence!
PLAN FOR FUN
Get together with your mates and plan something fun – a gig, a garden party, a day trip to another city… whatever gets you excited. Having something to look forward to can really help when you’re feeling low or down. It gives you a positive focus and reminds you that better days are ahead. It can also be fun making plans with your friends and deciding things like what you’ll eat, how you’ll get there and planning what you’re going to wear.
GO FOR GOLD
Give yourself a goal this month. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, such as running a half-marathon or scaling a mountain. Think of something you’ve been wanting to achieve or set a goal to do that one thing you’ve been putting off forever. It could be as simple as completing that dreaded homework assignment, spending more time with family, or walking for half an hour every day. You’ll feel a great sense of achievement when you reach your goal and tick it off your mental list!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED
Take a step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to do something you wouldn’t normally dream of doing. It can be scary but extremely rewarding to achieve something you once thought impossible. Team up with a mate to set a challenge if you’d rather not go it alone. Your own personal challenge can be as individual as you are – your goal might be to take part an adrenalin sport, overcome a fear of spiders or to bravely try a food you’ve never had before!
I AM AMAZING
Make this month all about you. Remind yourself of how truly brilliant you are by creating a positivity poster to stick on your bedroom wall or mirror. Read it every day and repeat it back to yourself. Use these prompts to help you create your positivity reminders:
The best thing about me is…
I am a good friend because…
My happy place is…
People think I’m good at…
I’m brilliant at…
I’m most looking forward to…
My favourite feature is…
I mean a lot to…
You don’t have to use every single prompt, just pick and choose the ones you like most. The most important thing is to be kind to yourself in your answers. You can use these every day to boost your self-confidence and reinforce your own self-worth. Never forget: YOU ARE AMAZING!
