Frequently Asked Questions

Hidden strength the go – to, advice + support portal for 13 – 24-year-olds designed to provide accessible and immediate support and chat-based therapy from qualified therapists to any young people who maybe struggling with their mental wellbeing, completely for free.

The app provides a highly secure, interactive portal where young people can access qualified therapists, tools supporting their mental well-being and a rich source of engaging and educational content, from the comfort and safety of their own space. No long wait times, no daunting meetings or lengthy phone calls – just immediate, anonymous, secure support to qualified therapists.

Hidden Strength aims to break down the barriers and stigma attached to reaching out for support by creating a space that is easy to use, used like how they use their other social platforms, whilst offering qualified, expert support. FOR FREE.

We have built the platform to work in a way the young are used too and enjoy and the unique tech we have built allows less therapists to help more children. The platform is free at point of access for the children and young people.

Yes, all of the therapists giving the scheduled therapy are fully qualified. They are registered with either the BACP or the HCPC and have the relevant experience with our demographic age group.
The story feed on the app only displays content that is appropriate to the young person’s age band. We use three age bands, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, and over 18. Every piece of content is tagged with the age bands that it is applicable to. In this way we can make sure younger viewers do not see adult content, but we can also ensure that age groups are not shown content that has no relevance to them.
No. There is no direct peer to peer contact within the app. There is user generated content on the app, but all content is moderated by the Hidden Strength before it is published.
All children can access the life ring feature and 4 therapy sessions, these are all totally free.

Joanna Nicholas is on the Hidden Strength Advisory board and is also our Safeguarding consultant. Joanna says

“It is well recognised there is a huge need for mental health support for young people, and extremely limited provision. Hidden Strength fills that void, as well as providing a one-stop shop for positive and constructive resources that focus on mental wellbeing. I consider myself extremely privileged to have the opportunity to work with an organisation that is so focused on positivity and improving young people’s well-being and very excited to be part of something that is unique in what it offers its community – offering qualified and registered therapists is an extraordinary offer.”
