Who’s ready for a summer of self-care? After the year we’ve all had, we certainly deserve it! Self-care is anything you do to take care of your own physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Taking care of ourselves has never been more important – and we’re here to show you how!

  1. Take It Outdoors!

Give the couch a miss and head outside instead. Take a few cushions and a blanket and set up a comfortable chill spot in the garden or in your local park. Take a book, magazine or pop your headphones on, lay back, and r-e-l-a-x.

  1. Summer Tunes

Create your very own feel-good playlist of summer tracks. Pick tunes that remind you of sunny days, party vibes and holiday memories. Hit play whenever you feel down for an instant blast of summer joy!

  1. Al Fresco Dining

Eat outdoors whenever the sun is shining. Take your lunch into the garden and enjoy the sound of the birds and the warmth of the sun on your face. Somehow, fresh air makes everything taste 100% better – savour the flavours and take your time to fully enjoy every mouthful.

  1. Explore With Friends

Meet up with mates to explore somewhere you’ve never been before. Plan your route together and take photos of everything you find on your travels. What will you discover?

  1. Water Fight!

Childhood throwback time! Get a group of friends together on a sunny day and organise a water fight. Water pistols, balloons, buckets… anything goes!

  1. Summer Snaps

Start a new folder within your photos on your phone or fill a scrapbook with your favourite summer snaps. Now you’ll always have a collection of summery, smiley memories!

  1. Star Gazing

Wrap up in a blanket and head out to the garden for a spot of star gazing. Wait for a clear night to see the stars twinkle at their very brightest. Star gazing can relieve stress and anxiety, plus you may even see a shooting star which is always exciting!

  1. Go Incognito

Have a day off from technology and social media. Switch your phone to airplane mode, mute conversations or turn it off completely. Focus on doing something you enjoy to ‘reconnect’ with yourself – walking in the country, swimming and reading are all great ways to improve your mental wellbeing.

  1. Holiday From Home

Travelling overseas is looking increasingly difficult for most of us in the UK, so why not bring the holiday vibes to your own home? Wait for a hot, sunny day and throw on your bathing costume, lay on a beach towel, fill a bucket or paddling pool with cool water to dip your feet in and treat yourself to an ice-cold glass of your favourite drink. Who needs Spain?!

  1. Embrace Your Body

We all have our own body hang-ups, especially in summer when we wear less clothing and feel more on show. Go running, hiking, swimming and walking to help you appreciate the amazing things your body can do rather than focus on what it looks like.
